ST. PAUL, MN – It would not be hard to paint founder
of “Famous Dave’s” BBQ, David W. Anderson’s version
of heaven: “I often joke, if my arm was to get cut…
barbeque sauce would come pouring out,” he writes.
He speaks passionately of the ‘Holy Trinity’ of meat,
smoke and sauce and further evidences God as a barbeque fan by the fact that when He created Eve
He took ‘a rib’from Adam!”
Yet, to become an overnight success can take decades.
Dave invested 35 years scouring back-road barbeque
joints and sampling the seasonings, succulent flavors
of smoked meats and the special ingredients available
at these bastions of barbeque; to eventually create
his own trademark sauces and barbeque.
This Choctaw/Chippewa entrepreneur, an enrolled member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Lake Superior Band
of Ojibwa of northwest Wisconsin now counts over 170 Famous Dave’s restaurants which dot the countryside from coast-to-coast. He is the winner of over 400 Awards, 150 of which are “Bests.” He has been featured in three New York Times best-seller novels, served as an advisor for two U.S. Presidents and three governors; and rose from the bottom of his high school class to obtain a Master’s Degree from Harvard. In addition to becoming a household name, he is currently a highly sought after keynote motivational speaker.
